The Presbyterian Church of White Plains is committed to dynamic worship, thoughtful (and provocative) Christian education, and a wide range of outreach initiatives for those who are poor and/or hurting. Always, and without exception, our programs are open to everyone. Our hospitality extends to members and visitors alike!

For those who may be interested in joining the church, we hold New Members Classes three or four times annually. These classes are typically held on a Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m. During the class, we will discuss briefly 'what we believe it means to be a person of faith', 'what this church is doing', and 'where we see the church going'. The next New Members Class is scheduled for May 20th from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

In September 2009 the Mission Study Team was selected. The charge for this team is to look at our church and see “Where we are” and “Where we are going”. A report is written detailing these two questions. In order to determine who we are, research is done on our resources – people, buildings, assets, history, demographics - for these all are part of who we are.

In order to determine “where we are going”, three congregational meetings were held to which members as well as friends of the congregation were invited. A total of 87 people attended these meetings. At each meeting comments were recorded and then the report was compiled.

The next step in this process is to write a first draft and present it to the current officers and church school teachers as well as a representative from the Presbytery of Hudson River at a leadership retreat. Comments and suggestions are then incorporated into the document. This is where we are currently at. Our retreat is scheduled for February 27.

Once the document is completed it needs to be approved by the Session of the White Plains Church and three representatives from the Presbytery of Hudson River. Only then can our congregation proceed with the formation of our Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) which will select a new pastor for our church.
