Phyllis Trible Lectures on Jeremiah

The community is invited to a series of lecture on the Prophet Jeremiah, led by Dr. Phyllis Trible. Sundays October 22 and 29 and November 5 right after worship.

  • October 22: Setting and Calling (Jer. 1 and 2)
  • October 29: Wrestling and Wounds (Jer. 4, 6, 20 and 26)
  • November 5: Into the Future with Hope (Jer. 31 and 34)

Phyllis Trible, an internationally known biblical scholar and rhetorical critic, is a professor of biblical studies at Wake Forest University School of Divinity. A past president of the Society of Biblical Literature, she began her collegiate teaching career at Wake Forest University in 1963. After leaving in 1971, she taught at Andover Newton Theological School in Massachusetts until she went to Union Theological Seminary in New York in 1979 as a professor of Old Testament. From 1981 until her appointment to the Wake Forest School of Divinity 1998, she was the Baldwin Professor of Sacred Literature at Union Theological Seminary.
